About a year ago, Chris Shea at The Landing at 7 Central in Manchester, kicked off an idea that has come to be known as Landing Idol.  Play good music on Friday nights and have a couple of microphones around just in case anyone feels inclined to sing along to the song.  Little did he know that it would become a weekly institution.  In a town like Manchester that has less than a bustling nightlife, “Landing Idol” has become a weekly something-to-do on Friday Nights.

Typically, the series will run for 8 to 12 weeks, with a winner being selected each week and awarded a Landing gift certificate.  At the end of the season, the finalists return for the Finals in which each contestant has to sing 2 songs in 2 separate rounds.  Each performance is then critiqued by a panel of 4 judges, including Chris Shea, Dave Singleton of Singleton Pluming, Mike Storella of The Central Street Gallery, and Michael Raneri, and Account Executive in the Fragrance and cosmetics industry.

This Friday, June 17th at 9pm, marks the season finals. If you’ve never witnessed it before, you don’t know what you’re missing!  There are some great singers and some not-so-great singers that make up for it with their performance appeal.  If you’re looking for something to do on Friday night, look no further.

The Landing Idol Series is sponsored weekly by  Captain Dusty’s Ice Cream and The Landing at 7 Central.

The Landing is located at 7 Central street in Manchester.  Call to reserve a table: 978.526.7494.
